Whether you're a Tucson Native or a transplant, as soon as the temperatures start climbing you'll start anticipating the monsoon rain and the break they bring us!
Here are 5 facts about Tucson's Monsoon Season:
- Kickoff: The official monsoon season kicked off June 15th and should last through September 30th.
- Flash Flooding Risk: Sudden, intense rainfall can overwhelm drainage systems and cause localized flooding in low-lying areas and washes.
- Dust Storms (Haboobs): Monsoon thunderstorms can also generate strong outflow winds, leading to dust storms known as haboobs. These intense dust storms can greatly reduce visibility rapidly and pose hazards to drivers and outdoor activities. Monsoon Driving Safety Tips
